Research Associate / Scientist

We are well-funded, early-stage biotech based in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are seeking a talented, creative, and self-motivated Research Associate / Scientist to work with our team to understand how metabolism in immune cells affects their function and cause inflammatory diseases, and to help identify and optimize novel leads for next generation drug candidates. Expertise / willingness to learn, design and execute flow cytometry-based assays and in vitro cellular assays will be required.


  • Design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret flow cytometry-based and in vitro cellular assays in support of our program objectives, including:
  • Support of small molecule drug discovery and structure-activity relationship efforts
  • Identification and validation of novel biological targets relevant to neuro-immune or neuro-inflammatory diseases
  • Identification and validation of human disease biomarkers
  • Meet deadlines in support of team and broader company objectives
  • Effectively communicate results and conclusions to diverse audiences


  • Bachelor’s degree in a biology, biochemistry and/or immunology-related discipline

  • Industry / biotech experience is a plus but is not required
  • Expertise in one or more of the following is a plus: flow cytometry, mammalian cell culture, human PBMCs, in vitro assays with appropriate cell lines, qPCR and/or protein assays (MSD, ELISA, Luminex)
  • Willingness to work with human blood samples
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills: cataloging and storage of samples, and documentation of experiments
  • Ability to communicate results and conclusions within the biology group and cross functional project teams
  • Strong desire to work in a fast-paced biotech company dedicated to rapidly developing novel neuro-immune therapeutics is a must.
